VACANCY NOTICE

GUN VIOLENCE PREVENTION TASK FORCE

 

 


NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN of the following vacancies:

Vacant seat 1, new appointment, shall be a current or former resident of a property owned or operated by the Housing Authority, for an indefinite term.

Vacant seat 2, new appointment, shall be a current or former employee of a community-based organization working with a population affected by gun violence, for an indefinite term.

Vacant seat 3, new appointment, shall be a clinician who has worked with victims of violence, for an indefinite term.

Vacant seat 4, new appointment, shall be a parent who has been affected by gun violence, for an indefinite term.

Vacant seat 5, new appointment, shall be a person who has engaged in gun violence, for an indefinite term.

Vacant seat 6, new appointment, shall be an academic with expertise in the field of gun violence, for an indefinite term.

Vacant seat 7, new appointment, shall be a registered nurse who works with victims or perpetrators of gun violence, for an indefinite term.

Report: No later than one year after the inaugural meeting, the Task Force shall submit to the Board of Supervisors and the Mayor a set of policy recommendations for reducing gun violence in the City. Thereafter, the Task Force may issue additional reports and recommendations to the Board of Supervisors, the Mayor, and other City agencies.

Sunset Date: The Task Force shall terminate on March 15, 2017, two years after the date it was established (or the effective date of Ordinance No. 12-15; March 15, 2015), unless the Board of Supervisors extends the term by ordinance.

All applicants must be residents of San Francisco, unless otherwise stated.

Next Steps: Applicants who meet minimum qualifications will be contacted by the Rules Committee Clerk once the Rules Committee Chair determines the date of the hearing. Members of the Rules Committee will consider the appointment(s) at the meeting and applicant(s) may be asked to state their qualifications. The appointment(s) of the individual(s) who are recommended by the Rules Committee will be forwarded to the Board of Supervisors for final approval.
