From: Supervisor Dufty
To: Recreation and Park Commission

Requesting/Inquiring: Inquiring that the Recreation and Park Commission review the request for a plaque in Golden Gate Park honoring Jose Simon, founder of Comedy Day.

Starting in 1981, more than 500 of the world's funniest comedians have performed free-of-charge in Golden Gate Park, most recently Sharon Meadows.

Mr. Simon's widow, Gail Simon, testified during today's public comment at the Board of Supervisors and has petitions signed by more than a thousand citizens.

It would be appreciated if the Commission would respond directly to Ms. Simon and advise the Board of the process to establish a plaque recognizing Mr. Simon's contributions.
