The Board of Supervisors of the City and County of San Francisco met in regular session on the above
date with President Kevin Shelley presiding.

President Shelley introduced Jane Adams, Director, California Park and Recreation Society to present
two awards; one for the AIDS Memorial Grove, and one for the Tenderloin Children's Playground and

Recreation and Park Department Director Mary Burns, Kerry Enright, Executive Director of AIDS Memorial
Grove and Jack Porter, Member, Board of Director of the Grove were called forward to accept the California
Park and Recreation Society Special Award of Excellence for the volunteer effort in the AIDS Memorial
Grove Project.
The California Park and Recreation Society presented a second award for Excellence in Recreation
Center Design for the Tenderloin Children's Playground and Recreation Center to the following: Bob Nist
and Andrew Maloney, Bureau of Architecture, Department of Public Works; Walt Kocian (retired) Landscape
Architecture, Department of Public Works; Kelly Cullen, Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation;
Tim Lillyquist, Recreation and Park Department; Diana Chin and Keith Grier, Recreation Directors at the
Playground and Recreation Center; and Children of the Tenderloin.

Supervisor Yaki requested a moment of silence in honor of the passing of Edmund G. "Pat" Brown,

community by the Redevelopment Commission.

feasibility and related costs for the City to conduct the following
municipal elections: l) allowing permanent legal residents to vote
in school board elections if their children are enrolled in public
