Supervisor Bierman moved to amend to reflect technical adjustments from the Mayor submitted by the Mayor’s Budget Director by letter dated July 17, 2000 to create a $5 million Wage and Health Care Accessibility Reserve (a copy of which is on file in the Office of the Clerk of the Board).

As a member of the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives’ Cities for Climate Protection, San Francisco has pledged to take concrete steps to reduce reliance on fossil fuels.While a large portion of the City’s power is hydro-electric power produced at Hetch Hetchy dam, there are still times during the year when we must rely on power from external sources.By switching some of the City’s municipal accounts to green power where possible, the city can send a clear signal to community leaders, local business, and city residents that we should all take responsibility for reducing our own contributions to global warming.
