The Board of Supervisors of the City and County of San Francisco met in special session at James Lick Middle School Auditorium, 1220 Noe Street, on the above date with President Tom Ammiano presiding.

Requesting/Inquiring: To notify the Directors of the following departments: (Art Commission, Community Development, Port and Redevelopment Agency) that committee hearing has been called to consider the recent displacement and evictions of members of the art community and non-profit organizations as well as to inquire into the results of two studies conducted by the San Francisco Arts Commission and the Mayor’s Office of Community Development regarding the displacement of the arts community and non-profit organizations and will be scheduled before the Finance and Labor Committee in the near future.

The parameters of the hearing will be as follows:

1.Determine the number of arts, dance, and arts organizations as well as non-profit organizations that are being displaced and/or evicted in San Francisco.

2.Inquire into the results study conducted by the Arts Commission to determine the number and types of arts organizations being displaced and/or evicted.

3.Inquire into the results study conducted by the Mayor’s Office of Community Development to determine the number of non-profit service organizations that are being displaced and/or evicted.

4.Inquire into whether property owned and operated by the Port of San Francisco, Redevelopment Agency, and other City Departments could be utilized to temporarily and/or permanently house arts and non-profit organizations.

5.Inquire into the other local, state and federal funding mechanisms that displaced arts and non-profit organizations can access.

6.Devise other additional strategies to prevent arts and non-profit organizations from being displaced.
