Requesting/Inquiring: To report on the departments’ ability to access and disseminate data on stolen vehicles.A constituent at a recent public meeting in Supervisor Peskin’s district raised this general issue.In short, cars that are stolen may be issued a series of parking citations.Despite the fact that these stolen cars receive citations, they are difficult to locate and recover.Furthermore, once these cars are recovered, the rightful owners must complete an arduous bureaucratic process to nullify these citations.Can data sharing between the Department of Parking and Traffic and the Police Department allow for owners to recover vehicles more quickly and avoid complications associated with having citations nullified?
