ROLL CALL
The meeting was called to order at 2:09 p.m. On the call of the roll all Supervisors were noted present.

There was a quorum.

From the Director of Elections, certifying the candidates for the Office of the Board of Supervisors who received a plurality of votes cast at the election held on November 7, 2006, who therefore, have been declared elected to that office, namely:

OATH OF OFFICE
President Peskin introduced the Honorable David Ballati, Presiding Judge, San Francisco Superior Court and requested the members to stand, whereupon Judge Balatti administered the oath of office.

ELECTION OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD
Supervisor Daly, seconded by Supervisor McGoldrick, moved to nominate to elect Supervisor Peskin as Board President.

The roll was called on the nomination of Supervisor Peskin as Board President for a two-year term ending January 8, 2009.

Motion passed by the following vote:

Ayes: 11- Alioto-Pier, Ammiano, Daly, Dufty, Elsbernd, Jew, Maxwell, McGoldrick, Mirkarimi, Peskin, Sandoval


REMARKS FROM MAYOR
President Peskin introduced Mayor Gavin Newsom.

Mayor Gavin Newsom congratulated the incumbents and the newly elected members and gave brief remarks.


REMARKS BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD
Supervisor Peskin recognized and welcomed the following elected officials:

Mayor Gavin Newsom, City Attorney Dennis Herrera, District Attorney Kamala Harris, Public Defender Jeff Adachi, Sheriff Michael Hennessey, Treasurer Jose Cisneros and Assessor-Recorder Phil Teng.

President Peskin expressed his gratitude to the Board members and gave his commitment to working with Board members, Department heads and the public in addressing issues which impact the citizens of San Francisco.


ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, the Board adjourned at the hour of 1:30 p.m.

Meeting Procedures
The Board of Supervisors is the Legislative Body of the City and County of San Francisco. The Board considers ordinances and resolutions, most of which have been the subject of hearings before the standing committees of the board at which members of the public are urged to testify. The full Board does not hold a second public hearing on measures which have been heard in committee.
Board procedures do not permit: 1) persons in the audience to vocally express support or opposition to statements by Supervisors or by other persons testifying; 2) ringing and use of cell phones, pagers and similar sound-producing electronic devices, (Violators may be removed from the meeting room.) 3) signs to be brought into the meeting or displayed in the room; and 4)standing in the Legislative Chamber.
Citizens are encouraged to testify at Board hearings and to write letters to the Board and to its members, City Hall, 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place, Room 244, San Francisco, CA 94102.
USING LAPTOP COMPUTERS FOR PRESENTATIONS: Please contact City Hall Media Services at (415) 554-4933 to coordinate the use of laptop computers for presentations at the meeting. Computers to be used are required to be tested in advance. The presenter should arrive 30 minutes prior to the meeting to connect and test their computer.

There is accessible parking in the vicinity of City Hall at Civic Center Plaza and adjacent to Davies Hall and the War Memorial Complex. Accessible curbside parking is available on Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place and Grove Street.
In order to assist the City's efforts to accommodate persons with severe allergies, environmental illness, multiple chemical sensitivity or related disabilities, attendees at public meetings are reminded that other attendees may be sensitive to perfumes and various other chemical-based scented products.
