From: Supervisor Ammiano
To: Director, Department of Public Works
Requesting/Inquiring: Inquiring into why was there so much confusion at the hearing held on January 31st to hear neighborhood feedback on the proposed Mechanical street sweeping increases in the Mission? The hearing was supposed to start at 9AM, but many people were told to come back later that morning, something that is very hard to do when you're missing work. Has Sunshine not been violated by not starting a hearing when its been noticed to start? Why are more hearings necessary given the fact that such overwhelming opposition to DPW's plan was voiced last Wednesday? Why were constituents told that the only way they could register their opinion was at a hearing during a workday when many couldn't make it, why couldn't emails suffice in that case?
