Requesting/Inquiring: Inquiring into the following:

What is the status of the City's negotiations with the owner of 2660 Harrison?

We understand that the City, in conjunction with BHNC, has a rare opportunity to acquire a large site to be developed into 100% affordable housing at 2660 Harrison St. A funding application deadline is fast approaching.

What is Planning and MONS doing to ensure that the bid process for this site is not manipulated to the disadvantage of the City, and that the price for the site is not artificially inflated?

What is the Mayor's office doing to make sure that the City does not find itself in a situation where the site is artificially bid up to the point where it is no longer affordable, thus forever losing the chance to acquire a much-needed site for 100% affordable housing in the Mission?

Is Planning Dept. considering a possible review of 2 projects simultaneously at 2660 Harrison St., one 100% affordable site and one 68 unit market-rate development at the same site, given that the Dept. views 2660 Harrison as an affordable housing site given the Board of Supervisors 2006 decision on the previously proposed project at the site?

I respectfully request a written answer by December 11, 2007.

Requesting/Inquiring: Inquiring into the murals currently covering the Bernal Heights Library branch. The murals have great cultural and historical significance for the Bernal community, and there is little dispute over whether the existing artwork should be restored and preserved. How does the Library plan to preserve and restore the existing artwork to the greatest extent possible?
