VACANCY NOTICE

ETHICS COMMISSION
 
Replaces all previous vacancy notices.
 
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN of the following vacancy and term expiration:

Seat 1, succeeding Quentin L. Kopp, term expires February 1, 2017, shall be broadly representative of the general public, for a six-year term ending February 1, 2023.

Members of the Ethics Commission are subject to the following restrictions during their tenure:
(a) Restrictions on Holding Office. No member of the Ethics Commission may hold any other City or County office or be an officer of a political party.
 

(b) Restrictions on Employment. No member of the Ethics Commission may be a registered lobbyist or campaign consultant, or be employed by or receive gifts or other compensation from a registered lobbyist or campaign consultant. No member of the Ethics Commission may hold employment with the City and County and no employee of the Commission may hold any other employment with the City and County.
 
(c) Restrictions on Political Activities. No member of the Ethics Commission may participate in any campaign supporting or opposing a candidate for City elective office, a City ballot measure, or a City officer running for any elective office. For the purposes of Charter, Section 15.100, participation in a campaign includes but is not limited to making contributions or soliciting contributions to any committee within the Ethics Commission's jurisdiction, publicly endorsing or urging endorsement of a candidate or ballot measure, or participating in decisions by organizations to participate in a campaign.

All applicants must be residents of San Francisco, unless otherwise stated.

Pursuant to Board of Supervisors Rules of Order, Section 2.19, applicants applying for this Commission must complete and submit, with their application, a copy (not original) of Form 700 (Statement of Economic Interests). Applications will not be considered if a copy of Form 700 (Statement of Economic Interests) is not submitted. Form 700 (Statement of Economic Interests) may be obtained at http://www.fppc.ca.gov/Form700.html.

Next Steps: Applicants who meet minimum qualifications will be contacted by the Rules Committee Clerk once the Rules Committee Chair determines the date of the hearing. Members of the Rules Committee will consider the appointment at the meeting and applicants may be asked to state their qualifications. The appointment of an individual nominated by the Rules Committee will be forwarded to the Board of Supervisors for final approval.
