AFRICAN AMERICAN ARTS AND CULTURAL DISTRICT COMMUNITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE

 

Inaugural Notice

 

 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN of the following vacancies (in bold) and term expirations, appointed by the Board of Supervisors:

 

Vacant Seat 1, new appointment, must be held by an owner of a business located in the District, reside within the boundaries of the African American Arts and Cultural District, and be nominated by the District 10 Supervisor, for an indefinite term.

 

Vacant Seat 2, new appointment, must be held by a performing artist, reside within the boundaries of the African American Arts and Cultural District, and be nominated by the District 10 Supervisor, for an indefinite term.

 

Vacant Seat 3, new appointment, must be held by an employee of a nonprofit organization that advocates for housing located in the African American Arts and Cultural District, reside within the boundaries of the African American Arts and Cultural District, and be nominated by the District 10 Supervisor, for an indefinite term.

 

Vacant Seat 4, new appointment, must be held by a person with knowledge or expertise regarding the history or culture of the African American Arts and Cultural District, reside within the boundaries of the African American Arts and Cultural District, and be nominated by the District 10 Supervisor, for an indefinite term.

 

Vacant Seat 5, new appointment, must be held by a faith-based leader of a church located in the African American Arts and Cultural District, reside within the boundaries of the African American Arts and Cultural District, and be nominated by the District 10 Supervisor, for an indefinite term.

 

Vacant Seat 6, new appointment, must be held by a youth between ages of 14 to 18 at the time of appointment, reside within the boundaries of the African American Arts and Cultural District, and be nominated by the District 10 Supervisor, for an indefinite term.

 

Vacant Seat 7, new appointment, must be held by a person with knowledge or expertise regarding the workforce in the African American Arts and Cultural District, reside within the boundaries of the African American Arts and Cultural District, and be nominated by the District 10 Supervisor, for an indefinite term.

 

Vacant Seat 8, new appointment, must be held by a person with knowledge or expertise regarding communication or journalism, reside within the boundaries of the African American Arts and Cultural District, and be nominated by the District 10 Supervisor, for an indefinite term.

 

Vacant Seat 9, new appointment, must be held by a retired senior, reside within the boundaries of the African American Arts and Cultural District, and be nominated by the District 10 Supervisor, for an indefinite term.

 

Vacant Seat 10, new appointment, must be held by a person with knowledge or expertise regarding community activation or event planning, reside within the boundaries of the African American Arts and Cultural District, and be nominated by the District 10 Supervisor, for an indefinite term.

 

Vacant Seat 11, new appointment, must be held by a person with knowledge or expertise regarding digital or social media, reside within the boundaries of the African American Arts and Cultural District, and be nominated by the District 10 Supervisor, for an indefinite term.

 

Vacant Seat 12, new appointment, must be held by a person with knowledge or expertise regarding community engagement, reside within the boundaries of the African American Arts and Cultural District, and be nominated by the District 10 Supervisor, for an indefinite term.

 

Vacant Seat 13, new appointment, must be held by a person with knowledge or expertise regarding African American health, reside within the boundaries of the African American Arts and Cultural District, and be nominated by the District 10 Supervisor, for an indefinite term.

 

Vacant Seat 14, new appointment, must be held by a director of a nonprofit arts organization located in the District, reside within the boundaries of the African American Arts and Cultural District, and be nominated by the District 10 Supervisor, for an indefinite term.

 

Vacant Seat 15, new appointment, must be held by a board member of a neighborhood association located in the District, reside within the boundaries of the African American Arts and Cultural District, and be nominated by the District 10 Supervisor, for an indefinite term.

Sunset Date:  January 21, 2020, unless the Committee is extended by Ordinance.

Next Steps:  Applicants who meet minimum qualifications and are nominated by the District 10 Supervisor will be contacted by the Rules Committee Clerk once the Rules Committee Chair determines the date of the hearing.  Members of the Rules Committee will consider the appointment(s) at the meeting and applicant(s) may be asked to state their qualifications.  The appointment(s) of the individual(s) who are recommended by the Rules Committee will be forwarded to the Board of Supervisors for final approval.
