The work never stops. After a very brief post-election glow, we’re back in the swing of things working to secure more affordable housing through the State’s Homekey fund, hold hearings on the congestion and public safety impacts of autonomous vehicles, and launching a farmer’s market at the newly-christened Lower Polk Plaza on Austin Alley. We’ve also passed the strongest legislation in the state to protect small businesses from eviction and the cultural heritage of San Francisco.

We’ve got a lot more on deck. I hear your concerns about corrupt, bad actor contractors in the permitting process. I share your frustrations about delay after delay on major infrastructure projects along Van Ness and at the Rose Pak Chinatown Subway Station. We’re engaged with the Department of Public Works about how best to implement newly-passed Prop B to keep our streets clean, and with the Department of Building Inspection to ensure seamless implementation of the Storefront Vacancy Tax.
For more about the re-opening plan, visit this link. Keep wearing your masks. Keep washing your hands. Maintain social distancing and exercising other precautions. We'll get through this together.
It’s my honor to serve you for another 4 years.
See you in the neighborhood,
Aaron Peskin

Next Phase: Re-Opening Guidelines
|
Due to the alarming Covid-19 rates statewide and locally, San Francisco is taking precautionary measures by moving from the least restrictive Yellow Tier to the Red Tier. This will allow us to collectively prevent further spread of the virus and protect our neighbors.
ROLLED BACK: NOV. 13
The following activities will halt indoor operations until further notice:
- Indoor dining at restaurants or bars serving meals in any context including standalone restaurants, food courts in shopping centers, and dining establishments in hotels, museums, or other venues.
The following activities will pause until further notice:
- High schools that are not already open with approved plans. (Switching to outdoor instruction within certain parameters).
The following activities will be required to reduce capacity to a maximum of 50 people indoors:
- Movie theaters may remain open to the lesser of 25% capacity or 50 people (down from 100).
All other businesses and activities that are currently allowed may continue operating at this time, including outdoor dining and take-out, elementary and middle schools, offices, retail shopping, personal services, and cultural and family activities such as museums and aquariums.
ROLLED BACK: NOV. 17
When San Francisco was moved to the State’s Red tier, effective Nov. 17, we rolled back further: closing non-essential offices and reducing fitness center and gym capacity to 10% (from 25%).
As the COVID cases continue to surge, San Francisco is expected to be placed in the purple tier designation under the state’s public health guideline. The best way to stop the spread is to stay home during this holiday season. If you best travel, please consider some of these recommendations. We ask that you and your family continue to wear a mask, wash your hands, and maintain 6 feet apart when you are in public spaces. Together we will overcome the unprecedented challenges due to the pandemic. Please do not hesitate to reach out to our office in case you need masks or any support. Affordable Housing For All San Franciscans
|
San Francisco was awarded $29.1 million in capital and operating costs from the State’s Project Homekey for the purchase of the Hotel Diva as Permanent Supportive Housing.
Under the Homekey program, funding will be applied to the purchase of the Hotel Diva, a 130-unit hotel at 440 Geary Street. The project will increase the City’s housing inventory by creating 130 new units of Permanent Supportive Housing for people experiencing chronic homelessness. I proactively led efforts to ensure the City submitted the Hotel Diva as a Project Homekey applicant.
I am proud to have worked on both grant applications for the Granada Hotel and the Hotel Diva and am thrilled that they've both succeeded. You can read more about the acquisition in the SF Examiner.
