A Message From The Supervisor:
I hope everyone had a safe MLK Jr. weekend and is preparing for a wet weekend as San Francisco is expecting more inclement weather for the next several days. City operations and maintenance teams are inspecting and cleaning sewers and catch basins and prepared to respond to service calls throughout the City. Please keep in mind key resources for the rainy weekend:
- Keep 9-1-1 available for life and safety emergencies.
- Report non-life threatening sewer emergencies or service problems such as clogged catch basins, residential or street flooding, sewer backups, or wastewater odors to 311 online at sf311.org, on the 311 mobile app, or by calling 3-1-1.
- Avoid driving during heavy rains or winds.
- Do not drive through water more than 6 inches deep.
- Do not touch electrical equipment if you are wet or standing in water.
- Pick up free sandbags! The SF Dept. of Public Works will provide San Francisco residents and businesses up to 10 free sandbags. They are intended for properties prone to flooding. Bring proof of address Monday-Saturday, 8am-2pm to the Public Works operations yard.
- Check on friends and family who may need assistance during the storm, especially elderly, homebound, or neighbors with disabilities.
- Stay informed: tune-in to KCBS (740 AM or 106.9 FM), local TV channels, or social media (@sf_emergency; @sfwater; @sfpublicworks; @sfdph) for emergency advisories and instructions.
Last but not least: LET'S GO NINERS!
Let's cheer on our San Francisco 49er's as they host the Green Bay Packers for the Divisional Round Play Off Game. Kick-off is this Saturday, Jan 20th at 5:15pm. If you are attending the game at Levi's® Stadium or staying in to watch the game with family and friends, plan ahead to ensure you are practicing safety in the wet weather ahead.
My office is available by email: safaistaff@sfgov.org or by phone 415-554-6975 (leave a message and we will call you back). Please note - if you miss my weekly newsletter, you may find it later on the Board of Supervisor’s website. Click HERE to read past newsletters.
