A Message From The Supervisor:
I want to start off by wishing everyone a Happy Lunar New Year. This year, we will celebrate the Year of the Rabbit on Sunday, January 22. We have several exciting events coming up including the annual Lunar New Year parade on Saturday, February 4 in Chinatown and the Ocean Avenue Lunar New Year celebration on Saturday, February 11 at Unity Plaza. Wishing you good health, good luck, and prosperity in the Year of the Rabbit.
Next, we are partnering with the Department of Public Works for a Love Our City community clean up, a day of greening and neighborhood pride in District 11 (Balboa Park, Excelsior, Cayuga Terrace, Visitacion Valley, Outer Mission, Oceanview, Ingleside, and more). There will be 8-12 worksites where volunteers will work with Public Works to garden, mulch, pick up litter, or abate graffiti. The projects and tasks will be different, depending on the site and community group's requests. Please click HERE for more information.
In addition, we will be holding a reception an in-person artist reception for ArtSpan Artist Robin Mize, currently on view in our office in City Hall! Refreshments will be provided. Robin Mize has created beautiful depictions of neighborhoods in District 11. Our thriving creative community has contributed so much beauty and intrigue to our busy lives. Come and be transported by learning about their inspirations and processes and connecting with the artists in person. Please click HERE to RSVP.
Last but not least, LET'S GO NINERS!

Balboa Park Station Plaza Construction
As part of improvements being made at Balboa Park Station, Bay Area Rapid Transit will construct a plaza and new passenger loading zone on the south side of Geneva Ave, between the I-280 off-ramp and San Jose Ave. began on Monday, December 5, 2022.
The first phase of this work is planned to be complete by the end of December and will reconstruct a portion of the sidewalk and the Muni bus stop. During this work, the bus stop will be relocated slightly to the east, at the crosswalk for the old passenger loading zone, which will be closed to vehicles.
Barricades and temporary signage will be installed to provide safe access for pedestrians along Geneva Ave and to the BART A1 Entrance. The BART entrance will remain open during this first phase. The map below shows the locations of barricades and the bus stop. The pedestrian pathway is shown as a dashed blue line.
We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

Minnesota Street Project Foundation’s Artist Emergency Relief Grants will provide immediate assistance to visual artists with an initial seed fund of $20,000 to provide grants up to $1,000 to cover unforeseen expenses resulting from emergencies that impact artists’ ability to work, including restoration, storage, and temporary studio space.
Grants are awarded based on need.

Amazing Dr. Martin Luther King Day Breakfast with Labor this morning - On Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s birthday, we remember the work of the great civil rights leader, minister, and family member. Dr. King said many great things but I am often moved when I am reminded of the following statement, “The time is always right to do what is right.” The quote calls for immediate action on injustice and empowers everyone to be a part of the solution. |
Honored to attend the first annual youth arts competition inspired by the work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his historic visit to the Cow Palace in 1964. Congratulations to the essay contest winners and thank you to the Cow Palace Board President Chris Corgas for having me! |
Wonderful time at the 39th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Luncheon hosted by the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department! It was the first luncheon back in person since the pandemic started. |
Congratulations to CMAC and Trailblazer Mabel Teng for the amazing opening event of Edge on the Square! Special thanks to Asm. Phil Ting for securing the funds at the state for this amazing space |
SF Safe banquet with Chief Scott and our District 11 Safety Liason Sam Berenson. |
