A Message From The Supervisor:
Recently, I introduced a proposal to waive permit fees for curbside parklets (also known as shared spaces). Curbside parklets are crucial to small business recovery – not only does it provide the small businesses and restaurants with more space, but it also provides service industry workers extra opportunities to find work.Â
I believe eliminating the permit fees will allow new and existing businesses to establish the parklet, ensure they are compliant with regulations, and expand their business. We’re hearing from small businesses that put up their parklets quickly during the pandemic that it would cost them over $10,000 in one-time fees to keep their current space – which does not take into account the exorbitant costs to redesign and reconstruct the parklets for compliance. My goal is to help small businesses use the savings from permit fees to invest in hiring and retaining staff and expanding their business. We are working this proposal through the legislative process and would like to hear your feedback. Please email my office with your thoughts on this proposal.Â
We are available by email: safaistaff@sfgov.org or by phone 415-554-6976 (leave a message and we will call you back). You can also check for updates on my Twitter , Instagram, and Facebook.Â

Recognizing Steve Adami’s contributions to our city’s housing and abstinence based addiction recovery efforts - we worked together to bring the Therapeutic Recovery and Prevention (TRP) Academy, a peer-led, abstinence based, therapeutic teaching community and transitional housing program. This was the first of its kind in the City and we were happy to see further expansions into programs like the Minna Project. Looking forward to your continued contributions to the community!
