A Message From The Supervisor:
San Francisco residents are invited to participate in the fifth annual California Clean Air Day on October 5, 2022, as the annual event focuses on air quality, especially in low-income neighborhoods and communities of color, which are disproportionately impacted by poor air quality. Designed around individual actions, this statewide event allows millions of participants to take part via a simple, online pledge of at least one action that will help clean our air.
Clean Air Day is an accessible opportunity that allows for virtual and in-person participation, as well as the ability for businesses, schools, government agencies, and other organizations to sign up to engage their members, students, employees, and customers to encourage participation.
San Francisco families suffer from poor air quality near freeways such as the 101 and 280. Our community is stepping up to lead San Francisco’s education campaign. San Franciscans can take action today to clean our air by walking, biking or taking public transit to meetings, planting a tree and making home improvements such as installing solar panels and eliminating woodburning fireplaces.
The Latino Task Force and Excelsior Strong will be hosting a California Clean Air Day event on October 1, 2022 from 11:00AM to 1:30PM at Casa de Apoyo located at 4834 Mission Street, San Francisco, CA 94112 in the Excelsior neighborhood. Participants will have the opportunity to plant seeds to grow their own food and herbs.
Â
Hosted by the Coalition for Clean Air with partners across the state, Clean Air Day is led locally by a diverse group of government, business and nonprofit representatives. Air pollution disproportionately impacts the health of people of color, low-income communities, and those who are sick, very young, or very old.

Last weekend, we celebrated Mary and Al Harris on the occasion of their retirement from the Excelsior Action Group board. Mary and Al are tireless advocates for their community and have worked so hard to ensure that District 11 has the resources that it needs. I want to personally thank both Mary and Al and presented them with Certificates of Honor from all members of the Board of Supervisors for their tremendous work. |
Taste of Excelsior this past weekend! Thank you to EOMM, Excelsior Action Group, Ocean Incubators, OMI CPP, Avenue Greenlight, SFCDMA for your support for this event. And thank you to all the vendors who participated! |
Wonderful Ribbon Cutting at Guidry Early Childcare and OMI Skate Party! It’s so great to see this open space for kids to immerse themselves and learn. |
It was great to see so many City leaders at the Y earlier today to highlight their nutrition programming. Expanding access to healthy food for residents is a top priority for our City. This cross-sector partnership serves as a model for addressing hunger within our most vulnerable communities. I’m proud to support this initiative, as we work towards long-term solutions |
Joined UNITE HERE! Local 2 at their strike at SFO. One job should be enough - the amazing people of Local 2 have worked so hard to keep SFO running and they deserve a living wage and family healthcare. |
