California Governor Gavin Newsom Launches California Health Corps:
ALL health professionals, California needs you! Today, California Governor Gavin Newsom announced the launching of the California Health Corps, a program meant to help California meet the increase in number of people in need of urgent health care during this COVID-19 pandemic.
Who are we looking for:
- Physicians (MD, DO), including medical students
- Pharmacists
- Dentists
- Nurse practitioners
- Physician assistants
- Nurses (RN, LVN, CNA), including nursing students
- Behavioral health professionals (psychiatrist, psychologist, psychiatric nurse practitioner, LCSW, LMFT, LPCC)
- Respiratory therapists
- Paramedics
- Medical assistants
- Emergency medical technicians
You will be paid and will be given malpractice insurance coverage. Locations will vary, but those managing this will try to match applicants' geographical preferences.
Eligibility:
There is a five-step process to be successfully registered in this Program.
Step 1: YOU MUST:
- Be 18 years of age or over
- Be eligible to work in the United States
- Have a valid driver’s license or passport, and a social security card
- Have a valid California License for clinical practice (if you are a MD, DO, etc.)
- OR are a medical student or nursing student
- Have no negative licensure/certification actions (for licensed/certified professionals)
Step 2: You MUST:
Register in the California Health Corps system (to verify your medical license, if you have one, and to identify your deployment options). To register, please click here:

Step 3:
Once verified, someone will contact you if additional paperwork is needed to complete the hiring process.
Step 4:
Once all of the requisite information is received, people will review your skills, experience, location preferences and interests to best match applicants' placement needs.
Step 5:
You will be hired at time of deployment, you must bring a formal valid driver's license and social security card to provide at time of hire.

San Francisco Unified School District Updates:
Technology Access:
While schools are temporarily closed, S.F.U.S.D. is working to provide access to technology for students in need, to the greatest extent possible, to support the continuity of learning.
Need a device?
- SFUSD students in grades 3-12 who do not have access to a computer during the day at home to support distance learning can borrow one from S.F.U.S.D.
- All devices will be on loan to families and will need to be returned to SFUSD when the district reopens. There is a limit of one device per student.
How to borrow a device during Spring Break
- Students who have completed SFUSD’s Distance Learning Device Request form (visit: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAlpQLScZzKQKalYQAfuqno7vK-u3XXvaNgbk13mvwhSRxYg09coQ/viewform) or whom have been in touch with their school about your computer needs can pick up a Chromebook during Spring Break at one of S.F.U.S.D.'s centralized pickups starting on Tuesday, March 31 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a staggered schedule based on the student’s last name.

Get Loud For Our Heroes: Make Noise For Frontline Workers Campaign
Based on what many other cities across the globe have been doing after being hit by the novel coronavirus ("COVID-19"), the United Educators of San Francisco (UESF), which represents more than 6,200 San Francisco Unified School District employees (e.g., teachers, paraprofessionals, nurses, counselors, and psychologists), has put out a call to action.
Every evening at 7 p.m., please join other San Franciscans and make some noise for our health care workers, restaurant workers, child care workers, truck drivers, IT workers, emergency workers, construction workers, janitors, sanitation workers, police officers, firefighters, sheriffs, nonprofit workers, MUNI and BART operators, grocery store clerks, nonprofit workers, and many, many more! California Governor Newsom Announces a 90-Day Relief for Homeowners -- California State’s 90-Day Mortgage Payment Relief During the COVID-19 Crisis:
On Wednesday, March 25, 2020, California Governor Gavin Newsom announced that almost 200 state-chartered banks, along with the country’s four major banks (J.P. Morgan Chase, CitiBank, U.S. Bank, and Wells Fargo), and credit unions have agreed to a 90-day grace period for mortgage payments for Californians.
Below, a summary of what this means for you.
90-Day Grace Period for Mortgage Payments:
Financial institutions will offer, consistent with applicable guidelines, mortgage payment forbearances of up to 90 days to borrowers economically impacted by COVID-19. In addition, those institutions will:
- Provide borrowers a streamlined process to request a forbearance for COVID-19-related reasons, supported with available documentation;
- Confirm approval of and terms of forbearance program; and
- Provide borrowers the opportunity to request additional relief, as practicable, upon continued showing of hardship due to COVID-19.
No Negative Credit Impacts Resulting from Relief:
Financial institutions will not report derogatory tradelines (e.g., late payments) to credit reporting agencies, consistent with applicable guidelines, for borrowers taking advantage of COVID-19-related relief.
Moratorium on Initiating Foreclosure Sales or Evictions:
For at least 60 days, financial institutions will not initiate foreclosure sales or evictions, consistent with applicable guidelines.
Relief from Fees and Charges:
For at least 90 days, financial institutions will waive or refund at least the following for customers who have requested assistance:
- Mortgage-related late fees; and
- Other fees, including early CD withdrawals (subject to applicable federal regulations).

San Francisco Property Tax Services – April 10, 2020 Deadline OR Apply For a Penalty Waiver:
On April 10, 2020, San Francisco’s homeowners know that property taxes are due locally and that that is still the deadline, the Office of the Treasurer & Tax Collector cannot change state law (which sets this deadline). However, San Francisco’s Office of the Treasurer & Tax Collector still urges everyone to please pay on time but if you can’t pay on time for reasons related to the novel coronavirus (“COVID-19”) you should submit a request for a penalty waiver online.

San Francisco's Shelter-In-Place (Stay-at-Home) Health Order:
On March 30, 2020, Mayor London Breed announced that she will extend the Shelter-In-Place ("Stay-at-Home") Order that went into effect on March 17 until May 1, 2020.
On March 16, 2020, the City issued a Public Health Order requiring people to stay at home ("shelter-in-place") except for essential needs, the order is in effect until April 7, 2020 and may be extended if necessary.

On March 19, 2020, California Governor Gavin Newsom issued a statewide stay-at-home order, effective at midnight, in an attempt to slow down the spread of the COVID-19.
