Essential Workers: Registration For Summer Camps Starts Today:

All essential workers with children, please note that Priority Registration for San Francisco's summer camp programs started today at 10 a.m. but ONLY for participants in the San Francisco Recreation and Park ("SFRPD") Emergency Childcare Scholarship-eligible families.

For families who are currently on a scholarship or who have been enrolled in emergency childcare can self-register.  For more information about SFRPD's scholarship program, please click here: http://sfrecpark.org/scholarships

Please apply, these slots tend to fill quickly; please note that SFRPD has also noted that it may take a few days to process all scholarship applications depending on the volume they received.

For all other applicants-families, including other essential workers, registration begins at 10 a.m. on June 6th, 2020. Good luck!

Shared Spaces Program Announced By Mayor London Breed:

Today, Mayor London Breed announced the Shared Spaces Program, a program meant to let restaurants expand into outdoor spaces. Specifically, sidewalks, streets, parks, and plazas will now be allowed to be used as restaurant pickup and retail sales by small-business owners in San Francisco. The Program was created by the Economic Recovery Task Force, a group comprised of different stakeholders, as we prepare for long-term social distancing.

Businesses or merchant associations should apply for a free, expedited permit that allows for the use of sidewalk space or parking spots for business purposes, once we loosen the health restrictions.

The California Department Of Public Health Issues Updated Guidance Regarding Religious Institutions:

On Monday, May, 25, 2020, California Department of Public Health announced new, statewide "guidance" that allows for the reopening of places of worship and in-store retail shopping, but only with safety modifications in place to limit the spread of COVID-19.

To read the guidance, please click here:

https://covid19.ca.gov/pdf/guidance-places-of-worship.pdf

Please note, however, that San Francisco's current Stay-at-Home Order remains in effect and it DOES NOT allow houses of worship to host religious gatherings or in-store retail at this time. The City is continuing to develop a data-driven plan and health indicators.

To stay up-to-date as to what is going on locally, please review the latest on the (recently updated) Frequently Asked Questions website:

Spare Air Alert Issued:

On Monday, May 25, 2020, the first Spare the Air alert was issued for 2020 and, again, another same alert was issued today. The forecast of unhealthy air is made by district officials when there is a combination of high temperatures and more cars on the roads which bring haze to the Bay Area skies, we expect more for this week. Please be sure to stay hydrated and cool.

Update Regarding San Francisco's Department of Disability and Aging Services:

The District 11 office is happy to announce the the Department of Disability and Aging Services' (the "Department") helpline is now open seven (7) days a week to older adults and adults with disabilities to provide them with everyday tasks as well as to connect individuals with volunteers who can help.

Currently, the Department is closed but the City has just announced that the  DAS Benefits and Resource Hub (the "Hub") is now operating weekly. This Hub is meant to be a one-stop-shop for information and access to services for adults.

Who qualifies for DAS' services: ALL of San Francisco's older adults and adults with disabilities, whether or not they receive public benefits and regardless of their income.
