October Is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month
This October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, people are encouraged to wear purple as an act of solidarity. You are invited to attend the launch of this important event on Tuesday, October 6, 2020. Details below.

Get Counted, San Francisco! 2020 Census Week Of Action
On Tuesday, September 29, 2020, there will be a Census Caravan beginning its route at Civic Center and will make its way to every San Francisco District.
What/Kick-Off: The Census Caravan will take off at 9 A.M. in front of the Asian Art Museum and Larkin & McAllister
Rally: At 1:15 P.M. the S.F. Counts Week of Action Rally will begin at Civic Center Plaza
Purpose: Raise awareness around the importance of the Census 2020 and helping people fill-out theirs!
Who: The San Francisco Complete Count Committee, Office of Civic Engagement & Immigrant Affairs, Art+Action, and dozens of nonprofit partners will feature cars, a census bus, and multilingual mobile billboard trucks traveling through every supervisorial district, with a full stop in the Mission District before stopping at Civic Center Plaza for the final rally (see immediately below).

Mayor London Breed Announces The Creation Of The “Just Add Music” ("JAM") Permit
This past Friday – September 25, 2020 – Mayor London Breed announced the creation of a new free permit, the “Just Add Music” permit or “JAM” permit. The JAM permit will be issued by the San Francisco Entertainment Commission and will cost nothing, i.e., a free permit. The JAM permit will allow for businesses or persons to provide live music or other type of amplified sound activities in outdoor areas by filing an online application (estimated to take 30 minutes to complete), however please note that there are a number of restrictions.

a. COVID
As of today – Monday, September 28, 2020 – the City and County of San Francisco has 11,195 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 101 confirmed COVID-19 deaths.
This past Friday – September 25, 2020 – California’s Department of Public Health reported 3,400 new cases; our positivity rate also increased.

b. Wildfires
This Sunday night, September 27, 2020, two new fires exploded and burned nearly 10,000 acres overnight. Specifically, the Zogg Fire (Shasta County) burned 7,000 acres near Redding and the Glass Fire burned through 2,500 acres in Napa Valley.

Please be safe, this week the dry winds and the heat wave have heightened the risk of wildfires across the State. We also know, per Cal Fire, that since August 15, 2020, more than 26 people have died and more than an estimated 7,000 structures have been destroyed by these fires. As of yesterday – Sunday, September 27, 2020 – there were 25 major wildfires burning, air quality is again an issue.
