December 31, 2020
A Message From The Supervisor:
Happy (almost) New Year! It goes without saying that 2020 was a tough, unprecedented year. It was a time of significant change and sacrifice, but also a time to really reflect on what is important: family, community, our health and the special moments that make life worthwhile.
One thing we need to remember is that we are in this together. Our district is filled with strong, hardworking, passionate people who care about our community and each other. We don't just turn away when we see a neighbor in need. We show up and we get the job done.Â
I am grateful for the many individuals who have stepped up and called their neighbors, delivered groceries, held toy drives for the holidays, advocated for COVID-19 testing sites, provided emotional support and more for many who are struggling during this time.
Our office will continue to do everything that we can to help our District 11 community get through this time. Although our City Hall Office is closed to the public due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we are still here to serve you. If you have any difficulty during this time, please do not hesitate to reach out. We are available by email: safaistaff@sfgov.org  or by phone 415-554-6976 (leave a message and we will call you back). You can also check for updates on my Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook . Stay safe and healthy.
Sincerely,
Supervisor Ahsha SafaiÂ

CA Small Business COVID-19 Relief Grant ProgramÂ
Small businesses form the economic heart of every community. This is why on November 30, 2020 the Governor announced  The California Small Business COVID-19 Relief Grant Program which would provide $500M to highly impacted small businesses, for profit and non-profit, in geographies and industries disproportionally impacted by COVID-19 health and safety restrictions as well in disadvantaged communities and underserved small business groups who have been unable to access relief.Â
Grants of up to $25,000 will be issued in two rounds of funding to eligible businesses and nonprofits with annual gross revenue of between $1,000 to $2.5M. Businesses with annual revenue between $1,000 - $100,000 will receive $5,000; businesses with annual revenue of $100,000 to $1M will receive $15,000; and businesses with annual revenue of $1M to $2.5M will receive $25,000.
Â
Applications for Round 1 opened on Wednesday, December 30th, 2020 at 8:00 AM and close on Friday, January 8th, 2021 at 11:59 PM. Round 2 will be announced in the near future.Â
Â
Important points to note:
- Grants will not be issued on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please take your time during the application period to ensure that your application is accurate and includes all the required documents.
- Eligible business applicants will be scored based on COVID-19 impact factors incorporated into the Program’s priority criteria; grants will be distributed based on scoring.
- One complete application will qualify you for both rounds so please only apply once;Â qualified applications that are not awarded a grant in the first round will be rolled over into the next funding round for consideration.
- This is California state funding, not federal funding.
- Approval notifications will begin on January 13, 2021.
