Community Updates
Planning Association for the Richmond
It was great to connect with neighbors earlier this week at the Planning Association for the Richmond (PAR). We discussed transit and traffic safety, smally business protections, and support for community programs.
Rapid Flashing Beacon at Geary and 38th
Last month we activated the Rapid Flashing Beacon across Geary Boulevard at 38th Avenue. This new tool will help slow traffic making it safer for pedestrians to cross Geary. I was honored to be joined by Sandee Holman, sister to Larry Holman, who was hit and killed at this intersection in December 2020. I am grateful for the work of San Francisco Public Works, SFMTA, the San Francisco County Transportation Authority, and Walk SF for their partnership and dedication. Together we will continue to streamline pedestrian safety and improve implementation. As we crossed the street, I was pleased to see most drivers yielded to the flashing lights, but there were still some that did not stop. Our next step will include working with Richmond a police Station to step up enforcement and make sure drivers get the message. Lets all slow down and be good neighbors.
New Stop Signs on Clement
We have two new stop signs on Clement at 24th and 26th! These signs were installed after hearing directly from community members. Let us know if there's a issue you need help with and the D1 team will work with you to fix it.
Community Events
Supporting our Seniors
We are partnering with the Recreation and Parks Department to create a senior "playground" in the open space next to the Golden Gate Park Senior Center. There is still time to give input on the project, fill out the senior playground survey in English | Chinese | Filipino | Russian | or Spanish
Then join us on Thursday, October 2nd at 4:30pm at the Golden Gate Park Senior Center for a community meeting to discuss the results of the survey.
Adaptive Bike Program in Golden Gate Park on Saturdays
Check out San Francisco's free Adaptive Bike Program in Golden Gate Park on Saturdays through October 26. In partnership with the BORP Adaptive Sports and Recreation and the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, we're providing hand cycles, foot trikes and tandem bikes for use on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. These adaptive cycles will be available at the Music Concourse behind the Bandshell (75 Hagiwara Tea Garden Drive), next to the accessible parking lot. No reservations are needed; first come, first served.
Now you can report directly to 311 from an app! The SF311 mobile app is now available in Chinese, Spanish, and Filipino, making it even easier to access City services in your preferred language. With just a few taps on your Android or iPhone , you can quickly request some of the City's most popular services. Download the app today and stay connected with City resources.
The app will automatically detect your phone’s language—whether Chinese, Spanish, Filipino, or English.
