I know like me, many of you have been struggling to process the recent awful attacks in Monterey Park and Half Moon Bay, as well as the continuing attacks on our Asian elders in San Francisco. When a violent crime takes place, it impacts everyone in our community. It takes away a sense of security and safety from all of us.
Gun violence and hate attacks on our Asian elders have gone on for far too long, and we need to continue to work together to tackle safety challenges.
This is why I introduced a resolution urging the Department of Public Health to provide comprehensive support for gun violence victims and why I am continuing to push for accountability of our law enforcement to protect our Asian elders with a hearing request aimed to address the rise in violence and hate incidents against our AAPI community. I will provide more updates as we make progress.
I will also continue to work closely with our Richmond Police Station Captain Chris Canning, to identify ways to implement safety measures District wide, addressing our specific public safety needs.
In addition to working on public safety in our neighborhoods, I have been working closely with our Department of Emergency Management, ensuring safety for our residents and businesses to get through the storms.
Please consider filling out this storm survey to help us assess your needs and provide you the necessary support to recover from the storm and prepare for any upcoming inclement weather.
