Happy Pride Everyone!

This year’s Pride theme is “Looking Back and Moving Forward,” a tribute to the LGBTQ leaders that have paved the path for San Francisco to be hosting its 53rd annual Pride celebration, and an exhortation to all of us to continue the work of ensuring queer people in and beyond our city are not only protected, but embraced.

San Francisco does Pride Month like no other. The month’s festivities feature marches that celebrate the diversity of our LGBTQ+ community, events that honor the history of those who fought for our rights, and long standing traditions that continue to bring us together.

In a moment when the lives of queer and trans people are threatened in this country and around the world, I am incredibly grateful to represent a city that invests in and stands up for LGBTQ people. At City Hall, we’re announcing significant new investments including funding to improve safety infrastructure for nonprofits that serve local LGBTQ+ communities. We’re also celebrating historic firsts, including the nation’s first Drag Laureate -- congratulations D'Arcy Drollinger!

I write to wish you a safe and happy Pride, and to let you know about some upcoming Pride events for which we're especially excited!

#Slay with District 8 at Pride this year!

Join us on Saturday, June 25th at 10AM at and march with me and some of my favorite neighborhood groups and community organizations in District 8 and across the City at San Francisco’s 53rd Annual Pride Parade! We’ll have t-shirts, goodies, and lots of fun!

I will be hosting a Pride Party and Art Showcase with Supervisors Matt Dorsey and Joel Engardio on Thursday, June 15th from 4:00-5:30PM at City Hall!

Join us at City Hall for food, fun, and to celebrate young LGBTQ+ artists and community leaders in District 8 and across San Francisco!

In the spirit of Pride month, I will be hosting Office Hours at “Gay Beach”, at the southwest corner of Dolores Park near 20th and Church, on Sunday, June 11th from 1-3PM! Join us for coffee and snacks.

Walk-ins are welcome, no appointments necessary. See you there!

Celebrate Pride with our firefighters, EMTs, police officers, and sheriffs! Join us for a Pride Coffee with San Francisco's Pride Public Safety Alliance on Thursday, June 22nd from 4-5PM at Spike's Coffees and Teas in the Castro.

Meet me and our City's first responders, and ask any questions you may have about Pride this year! Coffee will be provided to the first five guests.
