SUPERVISOR MELGAR HEARING ON PG&E OUTAGES

Hearing will start after 3:30pm.

In response to the recurrent power outages during the last several weeks that were unrelated to weather and the extended outages exacerbated by weather conditions, Supervisor Melgar called for a hearing to request PG&E to report on their response strategy, the causes of the outages, and plans for how to support impacted customers.. Many of our residents, businesses, and schools were impacted and left with little information for days if not weeks. We need to hear from you.

Please come to the hearing to testify in person at City Hall, Board Chamber on Monday, February 26, 2024 at the Board of Supervisors' Land Use & Transportation Committee. The hearing will not be called sooner than 3:30pm and every speaker will receive 2 minutes to testify. If you have an experience you want to share or if you would like to attend the hearing, please e-mail our office at MelgarStaff@sfgov.org.

Participatory Budgeting Application Period Is Now Open

Participatory Budgeting is back! Participatory Budgeting (PB) is a democratic process in which community members propose projects and collectively decide how to spend part of a public budget. Last year, we funded 17 community projects ranging from murals in the Inner Sunset to emergency preparedness training.

Successful applications will focus on activities responding to critical needs in the following areas:

Public Safety & Resilience: security investments, emergency preparedness, disaster relief, crime prevention.

Children and Seniors: programs, accessibility, and safety for young or elderly residents, etc.

Vision Zero & Pedestrian Safety: pedestrian safety, traffic calming, bicycle safety, safety education programs, etc.

Neighborhood Beautification: place making, public art, improvements to parks and playgrounds, etc.

This year, the application for your proposals will open from February 12th until March 29th. On March 11th, you will have the opportunity to troubleshoot your ideas with Emma Heiken who manages the Participatory Budgeting process and will be present to answer questions and provide clarity on possible proposal submissions.
