I hope you had a wonderful summer. School is back in session and the Board of Supervisors’ legislative break is almost over. Our first board meeting will be September 5th. I look forward to taking up the many legislative priorities I have in mind for the upcoming year.
We will send out a longer newsletter with more updates about our plans when we return, but I didn't want you to miss out on any great events planned for the last half of August.
All through the break staff has been available to you. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us at 415-554-6516 or via email at MelgarStaff@sfgov.org if you require assistance.
Under the Awning Amnesty Program, which the Board unanimously supported, businesses and property owners who erected awnings without permits now have an easier way to come into compliance.
We are encouraging people to submit their applications beginning on Monday, August 28. The program will run through June 30, 2024.

D7 COMMUNITY EVENTS
SENIORS CORNER
August is National Make-A-Will Month
SF Community Living Campaign is offering free assistance in creating a will - FreeWill, an online tool for creating wills or revocable living trusts - to share your love with your family, friends, and the CLC community.
Don’t be one of the 67% of Americans without an estate plan. With FreeWill. you can rest assured that your family members and significant others won’t lose their affection for each other by fighting about your care or your prized ceramic flower collection. You get to make your wishes clear and also ensure that the causes and organizations you value will continue to get your support.
Home Match Program
Many seniors in our district are aging in homes that are far too large for them as their family members moved out. Home Match is a great organization which screens and matches responsible tenants to share space and costs with existing residents.
Safer than Craigslist, both tenants and owners can share their homes to trusted roommates. If you have some space to share, reach out for more information.
