➩ Get Help Paying Rent

If you are a tenant who experienced financial hardship during the pandemic and have unpaid rent, you can apply to get up to 18 months of free rent and utilities assistance. Landlords can also apply on behalf of tenants.

Check your eligibility and apply at housingiskey.com. The last day to submit an application is March 31, 2022. We encourage you to apply as soon as possible.

The online portal is multilingual and it takes only about 45 minutes to apply. You can get help with your application by contacting the CA COVID-19 Rent Relief Call Center at 833-430-2122 or a local program provider. You can also visit Open Door Legal at their Western Addition office at 1113 Fillmore Street.

Immigration status does not matter. Applicants will not be required to show proof of citizenship.

Already applied? Be sure to watch for emails or phone calls from your CA COVID-19 Rent Relief Program case manager and respond as soon as possible so your application does not stall.

The statewide eviction protections will expire on March 31, 2022. Apply to the CA COVID-19 Rent Relief Program today to reduce your risk of eviction!

If your landlord gives you an eviction notice or if you have another issue with your landlord, contact a tenant counselor. A full list of resources is available at:
