Friends and Neighbors,

We know how difficult this public health crisis is on all of us, particularly our vulnerable populations and frontline workers. We want to take a moment to recognize the tremendous efforts of brave San Franciscans who continue to provide essential services in our city.

Our goal is to fight for bold, structural change inside City Hall while simultaneously pushing for change on the outside through neighborhood activism, direct action, and mutual aid. This week, we wanted to highlight some of the mutual aid projects our team has been engaged in and let you know how you can receive aid from us or support our efforts.

? Hand Sanitizer Project

Over a month ago, UC Berkeley scientists Abrar Abidi and Yvonne Hao reached out to our office with a goal of producing hand sanitizer for vulnerable populations in San Francisco. In collaboration with UC berkeley labs, our office has distributed over 200 gallons, approximately 7000 individual bottles, to homeless shelters, county jails, MUNI operators, small businesses, and public housing residents.

In light of the new city requirement requiring everyone to wear a mask outside to prevent the spread of COVID-19, our office stepped up to meet the urgent need from residents of Plaza East. With the help of Plaza East resident Dennis Williams, who educated his neighbors on COVID-19 safety, we went door to door passing out hand sanitizer and face masks.

      ? Redemption Church Donation Center

During this public health crisis, essential workers and vulnerable people have been struggling to acquire Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). While the city now requires everyone to wear a face mask, many people are unable to purchase masks due to financial hardship as well as shortages of supplies.

That is why our office decided to step up and provide these supplies for our neighbors who need them to stay safe and healthy.

In collaboration with our neighbors at Redemption Church in District 5 who generously offered to let us use their space, we have opened up a centralized distribution center to expand our efforts to get hand sanitizer, masks, and other protective supplies to essential workers, unhoused folks, and other vulnerable populations. Now, we need your help to ensure we get supplies to our neighbors who need it most.

If you have the means, please consider donating to our gofundme. Funds are directed to purchasing masks and bottles for hand sanitizer.

Do you have supplies to donate? Here is a list of supplies we are seeking:
