Upcoming Virtual Meetings with D5 Office

Friends and Neighbors,

Since the start of Shelter-in-Place, our office has hosted weekly Wednesday office hours, in place of our previous in-person office hours at neighborhood cafes. We have also hosted issue-specific and neighborhood meetings, to make sure that while we stay safely socially-distanced, that we remain engaged with the important issues facing our district.

Join us again this Wednesday for our weekly office hours, coming up May 13th at 1pm on Zoom Video Conference.

District 5 Slow Streets Community Meeting

During this pandemic, our San Francisco transportation system has rapidly changed and it has affected the way that many District 5 residents get around and travel for essential services. Traffic congestion has significantly dropped, MUNI lines have been cut, and pedestrians have struggled to maintain physical distance on our sidewalks. The reduction in traffic coupled with the need for social distancing for those outside has provided us with some opportunities to pilot projects that help us get closer to our goals of vision zero, to create safer and more livable streets to protect San Franciscans.

Our office is proud to be teaming up with SFMTA to pilot  innovative, safe streets efforts. Some have been in the works for a while, others are more recent. Things are moving fast, but we want to make sure our constituents are in the loop and have an opportunity to provide input. We’ve been in touch with community leaders and constituents every step of the way, and we wanted to invite you to an online community meeting so we can get your feedback and ideas as we roll out more slow streets and protected bike lanes. You are cordially invited to our Zoom D5 Slow Streets community meeting on Wednesday, May 13 at 3:30 pm.

Hayes Valley Neighborhood Follow up

Earlier this week, I joined with Harm Reduction Case Managers from Glide to do outreach to the unhoused population on Octavia Boulevard and neighboring blocks. We then followed up with a safe, socially distanced informal meeting with neighbors at Patricia’s Green, to discuss what’s happening and what can be done.

For those who weren't able to make it, we are hosting a follow up virtual meeting on Zoom, this coming Thursday, May 14, at 4:30pm.
