I am thrilled to announce that Mayor Farrell, Supervisor Fewer and I in partnership with community leaders were able to successfully move legislation to fund universal representation for immigrants in San Francisco facing deportation!

Great news - Doc's Clock will be allowed to bring their iconic vintage sign with them to their new location! I have been a fan of Doc's Clock for years and helped them achieve Legacy Business status when I was Chief of Staff to Supervisor Campos. I am so glad to have negotiated the process to allow for this business to keep its sign.

Bilingual Officers in the Portola

After months of advocacy from my office and Portola community leaders, I am pleased to welcome Officers Ng, Tien, and Wong to the Portola neighborhood. These bilingual officers will be walking the foot beat on San Bruno Ave, with Officer Hernandez. A special thank you to Captain Ford for finally bringing officers to the neighborhood who have the Chinese language skills to serve the community!

The Court has ruled in favor of protecting our SF Educators! After passing the law with David Campos in 2016 to prohibit no-fault evictions against teachers during the school year, landlords tried to block it and a lower court agreed. Fortunately, this state appeals court ruling reverses the earlier decision, and our educators and childcare workers are protected. This means our school children won't have to adjust to mid-year substitutes in the classroom. Thank you to Ken Tray and Lita Blanc of United Educators for collaborating on the original legislation and Dean Preston of Tenants Together. And a special thank you to City Attorney Dennis Herrera and Manu Pradhan for the successful defense!

Mayor's Signing Ceremony for All Gender Restrooms in SROs

I was joined by transgender leaders, Supervisor Jeff Sheehy and Mayor Mark Farrell in a beautiful signing ceremony for my legislation that expands the City's All Gender Restroom Ordinance to include SRO hotels. This was an issue raised by transgender advocates living in SROs who did not feel safe using the restroom. I was grateful to celebrate the passage of this law with community members who fought so hard to make it a reality.

7 Days a Week Cleaning About to Start at 16th Mission

After spending over four months cleaning the 16th and Mission Bart station every Wednesday morning with Bart Director Bevan Dufty to bring attention to the conditions at the station, I am thrilled to announce that BART management has responded to our calls and will greatly increase the amount of cleaning there. Instead of one cleaner on weekdays and one hour of power washing at night, 16th and Mission BART plaza will now have 2 cleaners 7 days a week, as well as 4 hours of power washing every night.

Allocating $10 Million in State Money to Address Homelessness Crisis

I am proud to announce that we have allocated $10 million of State funds to address San Francisco's street homeless crisis by expanding our Navigation Center capacity. After opening the temporary South Mission Navigation Center, I began searching for funds to secure a replacement Center so we could continue our work of getting people out of street encampments into dignified Navigation Centers and on a path out of homelessness. With the help of Assemblymember Phil Ting and Supervisors Jane Kim and Malia Cohen, we can now open three new Navigation Centers, one in Districts 6, 9, and 10!

The San Francisco Summer Resource Fair will take place on Saturday, March 10 from 11am to 3pm at the County Fair Building in Golden Gate Park. The Summer Resource Fair will feature 150 summer programs, camps, classes and other services for children and youth from age 3 to 18. Many of the programs are free or low cost, and many of them will enroll participants on the spot! In addition to being an excellent resource for planning your summer, the Fair is a lot of fun: the SF Recreation & Park Department will set up a KidZone with games, arts and crafts, a climbing wall, and other fun activities, Play-Well TEKnologies will host a massive Lego building project, and the SF Public Library will bring their Bookmobile and host a book giveaway!

April 5th is San Francisco's Walk to Work Day! Walk to Work Day is about recognizing that we are all pedestrians. We all benefit from streets that are safe and comfortable for people in wheelchairs and on foot.

Get energized for Bike & Roll to School Week! and celebrate the joys and many health benefits of biking and “rolling” to school as a family. Get out your bicycles, skateboards, wheelchairs, roller skates and strollers: Bike & Roll to School Week (April 16-20) welcomes anyone and everyone with wheels! Schools from pre-K through high school may participate. The Safe Routes to School Partnership provides event resources and giveaways such as pencil pouches, key chains, and healthy snacks.
