Dear Neighbors and Community,
I hope you are all doing well!
I'm so happy that Mi Rancho is finally open at 5800 3rd Street! Fresh produce, meat market, hot food and your typical grocery staples for all. They are also serving up some great coffee. Make sure you go down and support. I love that we are continuing the work of addressing food deserts and food insecurity in community! |

District 10 Office Updates |
-
Sept. 4 - We had a good turn out for a community conversation at Gratta Wines. We have work to do and it was great to hear from constituents as we discussed the Islais Creek Bridge closure, Candlestick Development, RVs, quality of life issues and overall concerns in Bayview.
-
Sept. 5 - Had a chance to attend the S.F. Building and Construction Trades Council Officers Swearing-In Ceremony. Congratulations to each officer!
-
Sept. 10 - Stood in solidarity with tenants, housing advocates and my colleagues, in the fight to repeal the Costa-Hawkins Rental Housing Act. This law has exacerbated the housing crisis in San Francisco and California for too long. It's time to strengthen rent control and ensure affordable housing for all. Housing is a human right!
-
Sept. 17 - Proud to co-sponsor and introduce the Workers Justice Fund alongside Supervisor Ronen. We will not stand for wage theft here in San Francisco. This issue hits our lowest-income earners the hardest, making it difficult for families to pay rent, afford childcare, and meet basic needs like food and clothing. This fund is here to support those who've been robbed of their hard-earned wages and ensure they don't suffer any longer. Let's stand together for fair pay and workers' right for all of our workers.

Sept. 20 - Captain Hurwitz and I had a wonderful time visiting our amazing merchants on Leland Ave. Vis Valley is home to some incredible neighborhood gems, and with exciting new spots and activities coming soon, there’s never been a better time to stop by. Come explore and support our local businesses – you won’t be disappointed!
-
Sept. 20 - Along with FACES SF and Family Connections, we celebrated the opening of a new Family Resource Center (FRC). FRC's are the foundation of supporting families with young children and ensuring that their basic needs are being met. Happy to have a new FRC at 1099 Sunnydale open to community!
-
Sept. 20 - I was thrilled to be able to celebrate and present the amazing Cathy Davis with a proclamation for her 70th birthday. Cathy is a pillar in community and we honor her and all of the work she does with our seniors as the Executive Director of the Bayview Hunters Point Multi-Senior Services Center!
-
Sept. 21 - Such a great turnout with DPW at the Love Our City Neighborhood Beautification Day in Bayview. Meeting at K.C. Jones Playground (M.L.K. Park). There was tree planting, trash removal, graffiti abatement and more across the community. Thank you to all of our volunteers and to DPW for kicking this back off post pandemic.
-
Sept. 21 - What a beautiful grand opening celebration for the Dogpatch Community Hub! This was a culmination of hard work, sweat and dedication. Thank you to the Dogpatch Neighborhood Association, the Potrero Boosters, UCSF and all of the community involved in making this happen!

SAN FRANCISCO ENVIRONMENT DEPARTMENT:
San Francisco food service businesses -
The San Francisco Environment Department has 3 free programs to assist food service businesses. These programs help restaurants and cafes switch from using disposable dishes to reusable ones. Here is how it works:
1. Restaurants and Cafes: If you own a restaurant or cafe, you can get up to $700 to switch from disposable to reusable foodware for dine-in services. You will also receive free advice and help to make the change easier. Over 150 businesses in San Francisco are already part of this program, saving between $3,000 to $20,000 annually. Schedule your free consultation today by filling out the form at SFReuse.org.
2. Large Institutions: If you own an entertainment venue, hotel, school, health facility, mall or other large institution, you can get up to $5,000. This money can be used to switch to reusable foodware or partner with a service that helps with reuse. 8 grants are available on a first come, first service basis. Submit an interest form.
3. Dishwashers: Get up to $2,500 toward leasing or buying an automatic dishwasher, to help you build reusable foodware infrastructure for on-site dining. Submit an interest form.

DURATION: Work will begin late September and is expected to be complete January 2025.
What to Expect During Construction
Muni: operation and bus stops will NOT be impacted.
Access: businesses and residents in the work zone will maintain access to their driveways and entrances during construction.
Bicyclists: will be allowed use of full lane.
