Dear Neighbors and Community, 

I hope you are all doing well! As we move into fall and the days get shorter, we want to continue to focus on public safety throughout the district. 

Last month we released the updated recommendations to our District 10 Public Safety Plan. (View the Chinese | Spanish versions to the D10 Public Safety Plan) In October, we look forward to the 2nd Annual Violence Prevention Peace Rally on October 21st!

Last week, we pushed to make history as we introduced a resolution to accept the final reparations plan from the African American Reparations Advisory Committee. We hope to focus on getting the office of reparations up and running to identify a funding source for reparations and execute on prioritized recommendations.

District 10 Office Updates

• Aug. 25 - Celebrating a new beginning at Herz Playground with the VisValley/Sunnydale Community! Another promise fulfilled, with more exciting developments on the horizon. Stay tuned for the gym and boys club!
• Aug. 26 - The beautiful Day on the Green Potrero Hill Family Day! Such a great turnout at the Potrero Hill Rec Center.
• Sept. 7 - I had a chance to connect with our seniors from Network for the Elders for a community conversation at the Bayview YMCA.
• Sept. 7 - Congratulations to Mon Sing Noodle Co. for 91 years in San Francisco (in Bayview since 1994). Such a beautiful celebration of our community coming together for this multi-cultural celebration at the Southeast Community Center. 
• Sept. 12 - It was a great meeting with Quesada residents and Captain Maron tonight. Meeting with community fosters collaboration and innovation. These meetings empower communities to harness their collective wisdom and creativity for positive change. 
• Sept. 13 - I am proud that General Hospital is in my district, serving my constituents, as well as serving patients across the city. This ribbon cutting event for UCSF Pride Hall on campus at General Hospital commemorates partnership. This is also an opportunity to celebrate the 150 year partnership between the City and County of San Francisco and UCSF.

• Sept. 13 - Juvenile Probation Department Commission meeting at the Southeast Community Center in Bayview. It’s important that commissioners and department leadership come into community and discuss what is happening with the closure of the hall, opportunities for our young people, and the overall goals of the department.
• Sept. 14 - Today in Hunters View, the residents, the San Francisco Public Library, the Bayview YMCA, and John Stewart Co., unveiled the Automated Library Book Kiosk. This provides access to books right in the community. This is exciting as we know knowledge cannot be taken away from you, and additional access makes it easier for our families to check out books. Looking forward to having more of these in community.
• Sept. 14 - We celebrated at Flora Grubb Gardens for their 20th anniversary and presented them with a Certificate of Honor.  Wishing them many more successful years in business!
• Sept. 15 - We celebrated another milestone in our traffic calming efforts by highlighting the new speed bumps and stop signs on Gilman Avenue, here in Bayview. Community, Bret Harte Elementary School, parents, FranDelja Childcare Center, and AG residents fought for these traffic calming measures for years. Today it is a reality! I want to thank SFMTA and DPW for making this happen as well

• Sept. 17 - The Black Firefighters Association 2nd Annual Youth Academy Gala was extraordinary! The work they continue to do with young people in community is changing lives. Well done bringing everyone together in support of our youth.
• Sept. 18 - A very informative and active community charette (forum) tonight at True Hope COGIC with the Candlestick Heights Community Alliance, Bayview Hill Association and Alice Griffith residents. A lot of work to do and I want to thank everyone for expressing their concerns and showing up tonight. Thank you to represented city departments as well: RPD, HSH, OCII, MTA, Mayor’s Office, and SFPD. There is much work to do!
• Sept. 19 - We kicked off a historic day of reparations moving forward in San Francisco with a rally at City Hall. Allies, our community and many City leaders came together in 100% support of reparations for Black San Franciscans! I want to take the time to thank the entire African American Reparations Advisory Committee. I also want to thank the entire Team at the Human Rights Commission under the leadership of Director Dr. Sheryl Davis and of course thanks to my office team for all of their work on reparations with community.
