Dear Neighbors and Community,Â
I hope you are all doing well!Â
Happy Halloween and Feliz Dia De Los Muertos!
Thanks to continued pressure form our office, including calling key hearings, we've seen a significant breakthrough. The Housing Authority has recently issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) aimed at selecting a new property management company. This is a critical step toward addressing long-standing concerns about the quality of property management in our community. We remain committed to ensuring better oversight and accountability for the management of our public housing. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to fight for better housing solutions.Â
As always, if you have any questions or matters concerning District 10, please email my office at waltonstaff@sfgov.org.Â
In Community,
Supervisor Shamann Walton

District 10 Office Updates
|
- Sept. 26 - Celebrated another Amazing Latino Heritage Night at City Hall! Congratulations to all of the honorees: Lyanne Melendez (ABC 7), Joshua Arce (Laborers), and Carlos and Ruby Navarro (Navarro’s Marshal Arts Studio). We appreciate all of your contributions to SF as we celebrate the Latino Community.
- Oct. 3 - I joined Amazon workers here in District 10, to demand better working conditions, fair wages, and respect on the job. Amazon has refused to come to the table for far too long. The Teamsters, labor, and all of our workers coming together- that's how we win this battle.
- Oct. 3 - I participated in a tour of Sunbelt Gallery in Bayview and observed the genealogy reports conversation. When you have a chance, come out and enjoy the art work and the creators in our community. The gallery is located at 5146 3rd Street.
- Oct. 4 - Had a great time with my grandson at India Basin Park for the Sundown Cinema Series. Over 300 people enjoying the Princess and the Frog right here in community!
- Oct. 5 - Great turn out at the 3rd Annual D10 Peace Rally at Thurgood Marshall High School. The day also included a meet and greet with Oakland violence prevention workers and there was a great conversation about school based violence prevention work.Â
|
- Oct. 10 - Beautiful night at the YCD Education Mixer. We celebrated 25 years of 100% College Prep promoting, supporting and exposing people to education!
- Oct. 16 - Went out to support the healthcare workers strike! We must end unfair labor practices for our healthcare workers. We must end union busting tactics. We have to take care of the people who take care of the people!
- Oct. 16 - Great day in community celebrating the Sunnydale Hub Grand Opening! This hub includes a new Boys & Girls Club Center, childcare center, community space, gym, and more. While e have more work to do, this is a great asset for community!
- Oct. 19 - Beautiful day in community at the India Basin Waterfront Park ribbon cutting. So happy to see that community has access to open space and the waterfront like never before.Â
- Oct. 19 -Â Once again Potrero Fest was a big hit! Always great to see everyone on the hill having a great time and supporting the Potrero Hill Neighborhood House.
- Oct. 21 - I stood with the Teamsters, community leader Ernest Jones and Via to ensure that the Bayview Shuttle (the first of its kind) starts off on the right foot and provides quality Union jobs while meeting our transportation needs. It’s always great to ensure quality wages, healthcare, and human decency for workers in our city. I want to thank the Teamsters 665 for pushing Via to do the right thing.
- Oct. 22 - We had the privilege of honoring Assembly Member Phil Ting at the Board of Supervisors. Thank you for your unwavering dedication and tireless work on behalf of all of San Francisco. As Budget Chair, your leadership ensured critical resources and support for countless initiatives in our city. You have been a true champion for the community.

OFFICE OF COMMUNITY INVESTMENT & INFRASTRUCTUREÂ
CANDLESTICK UPDATE FROM OCII DIRECTOR, THOR KASLOFSKY:
As the Executive Director of the Office of Community Investment and Infrastructure (OCII), I am excited to share the latest developments at Candlestick Point.
Under the leadership of District 10 Supervisor Shamann Walton and with the steadfast support of Mayor London Breed, Candlestick Point is poised to experience positive change. This isn’t just a development; it's a commitment to the future of the Bayview community and the City at large. The project will include over 7,200 new homes with a remarkable 34% designated as affordable, addressing our critical need for more housing and supporting the diversity that defines San Francisco. This is an amazing new chapter in our history.
Â
Supervisor Walton has led the way. His advocacy ensures that the upcoming development not only supports economic growth but also adheres to principles of inclusivity and sustainability. His push for a 50% local hiring rate is not just about creating jobs—it's about opening doors to sustainable livelihoods for the residents of Bayview.
Â
As we look forward to breaking ground in late 2025, our community’s enthusiasm grows stronger. This initiative is expected to generate over $4 billion in economic output and thousands of jobs, signaling a major leap forward in our shared vision for a flourishing, equitable San Francisco.
Â
I extend my deepest gratitude to Supervisor Walton and Mayor Breed and the OCII Commission and staff for their unwavering dedication and visionary leadership. Candlestick Point stands as a testament to what we can achieve when we work together, guided by leaders who understand the needs and aspirations of our residents in our diverse neighborhoods. Candlestick will serve as a cornerstone for the legacy of the Bayview and serve the community for generations to come.
If you have questions about OCII or the Candlestick Point project, please check out our website at (https://sfocii.org/) or email Lila Hussain (lila.hussain@sfgov.org), Senior Project Manager at OCII. Thank you!
