Dear Neighbors and Community,
I want to start off by saying that I have the most dedicated and hard working Team here in the District 10 Office. We are focused on keeping everyone safe and responding to all issues and concerns throughout the district.
Our office is constantly updating and gathering information for list of City and State resources that you can access here: http://bit.ly/covid19d10 On Thursday, March 19, Governor Newsom announced a STAY IN HOME order for the entire State of California. This order will work comprehensively with our existing Bay Area Shelter in Place orders.
We know that this may be frustrating but if we do not do our part to prevent to spread of this virus, it is estimated that 56% of Californians will be infected—that’s 25.5 million people and 200k-800k will die—if we do not do anything.
The most important thing you can do is to STAY AT HOME and leave only for essential services.
This is a critical intervention to reduce harm from the spread of coronavirus in our community.
Essential services that remain open are:
Grocery Stores
Pet stores
Banks
Hospitals & Pet Hospitals
Pharmacies
Restaurants for Take Out/Delivery
Hardware Stores/Plumbers
Laundromats
as Stations
If you need to leave your home for essential needs, please practice social distancing and remain at least 6 feet away from another person.
For the most updated information and resources, please visit: http://sf.gov/coronavirus
Our office remains open and responsive remotely. You may still call our office at 415-554-7670, leave a message and my staff will get back to you. You may also email my office at waltonstaff@sfgov.org.
We will get through this tough time together!
In community,
Supervisor Shamann Walton

Childcare for Emergency Workers & Essential Workers |
The Public Health Order issued on Monday, March 16th requires San Franciscans to stay home, except for essential needs. Health care workers and other essential employees are exempt from the Order because their work is necessary to respond to COVID-19.
The Order allows childcare facilities to operate if they serve parents who work in essential businesses and comply with the following conditions to the extent possible:
-
Children must be cared for in stable groups of 12 or fewer.
-
Groups of children may not mix with each other.
-
Providers may not circulate between groups.
-
Common areas may be shared by multiple groups, however their use of these areas should be staggered as much as possible.
Recreation and Park Department’s emergency youth and child care centers follow social distancing and related COVID-19 sanitation and hygiene recommendations. Sites are limited to 12 children per site for smaller facilities and 24 children for larger facilities, split into two groups of 12 that do not interact, in accordance with the Order.
The emergency care program is available by invitation only. The Department of Human Resources is conducting outreach to Department of Public Health staff and Disaster Service Workers about the emergency care program. The Recreation and Park Department and the Department of Emergency Management are working together to conduct outreach to hospital and health care clinic staff. For more information on the City’s Emergency Child Care Program, visit dcyf.org/care. |

The SFPUC continues its essential water, power and wastewater services. We continue to provide our customers high quality water that comes from high quality sources—and we keep it that way, all the way to your tap.
San Francisco’s tap water is safe. Our rigorous water disinfection processes ensure that your tap water is safe from viruses, including COVID-19.
San Francisco’s tap water is plentiful and reliable. We plan for emergencies to ensure that enough staff members report for duty to keep the water flowing.
There is no need to purchase bottle water or boil tap water during this time.
In other words, COVID-19 has no impact on the quality and supply of San Francisco’s tap water. The same is true for our wastewater and power services.
To help slow the spread of Covid-19 and to keep our customers and employees safe, we have temporarily closed the following:
-
The SFPUC’s headquarters located at 525 Golden Gate Avenue is closed.
-
The Cashier, Customer Service, and New Service Installations Counters will not be available during this time.
-
The Capacity Charges Counter, located at 1660 Mission Street, is also closed.
-
The Pulgas Water Temple is currently closed to events and cars. The pedestrian gate remains open as long as visitors maintain the recommended social distancing (at least 6 feet or more).
Here’s how customers can pay their bill during this time:
-
Pay by U.S. mail by sending a check with your bill paystub.
-
Pay online by logging onto MyAccount.
-
Pay over phone by calling (415) 551-3000.
-
Avoid paying in person. If you have no other options but to pay in cash, go to a participating 7-Eleven store.
During these difficult times, SFPUC will not shut off water or power services due to late payments. SFPUC is also postponing liens and collections during this time.
The following services are temporarily suspended:
-
Leak inspections.
-
High bills check repairs.
-
Yard inspections for flow factor adjustments.
-
Those with appointments scheduled will be notified of cancellation and will be rescheduled in the future.
