NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN of the following vacancies, upcoming term expirations and information on currently held seats, appointed by the Board of Supervisors:

 

Seat 1, Adrianna Zhang, term expiring September 6, 2022, must be appointed by the District 7 Supervisor, for a one-year term.

Seat 2, Sammy Foley, term expiring September 6, 2022, must be appointed by the District 3 Supervisor, for a one-year term.

Seat 4, Amadeos Oyagatas, term expiring September 6, 2022, must be appointed by the District 9 Supervisor, for a one-year term.

Seat 5, Sahara Frett, term expiring September 6, 2022, must be appointed by the District 8 Supervisor, for a one-year term.

Seat 7, Aresema Asfaw, term expiring September 6, 2022, must be appointed by the District 5 Supervisor, for a one-year term.

Seat 8, Jayden Tanaka, term expiring September 6, 2022, must be appointed by the District 1 Supervisor, for a one-year term.

Seat 10, Vanessa Pimentel, term expiring September 6, 2022, must be appointed by the District 10 Supervisor, for a one-year term.

Seat 11, Valentina Alioto-Pier, term expired September 6, 2021, must be appointed by the District 2 Supervisor, for a one-year term, for a one-year term expiring September 6, 2022.

Seat 14, Babrielle Listana, term expiring September 6, 2022, must be appointed by the District 6 Supervisor, for a one-year term.

Seat 15, Erika Morris, term expired  September 6, 2021, must be appointed by the District 11 Supervisor, for a one-year term, for a one-year term expiring September 6, 2022.

Seat 17, Jiajian (Harry) Xu, term expiring September 6, 2022, must be appointed by the District 4 Supervisor, for a one-year term.

 

Additional Qualifications:  The Commission shall consist of members between the ages of 12 and 23 years at the time of appointment. The Commission shall consist of individuals who have an understanding of the needs of young people in San Francisco, or experience with children and youth programs or youth organizations, or involvement with school or community activities. The members shall represent the diversity of ethnicity, race, gender and sexual orientation of the people of the City and County and shall be residents of the City and County.

 

Reports:  The purpose of the Commission is to collect all information relevant to advising the Board of Supervisors and Mayor on the effects of legislative policies, needs, assessments, priorities, programs, and budgets concerning the children and youth of San Francisco. Before the Board of Supervisors takes final action on any matter that primarily affects children and youth of San Francisco, the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors shall refer the matter to the Commission for comment and recommendations. The Commission shall provide a response within 12 days of the referral date; after the 12-day period the Board may act on the matter whether or not a response was received.  This requirement shall not apply to matter where immediate action is necessary to protect the public interest.  Also, by July 1st of each year the Commission shall report to the Board of Supervisors on their activities, goals, and accomplishments.

All applicants must be residents of San Francisco, unless otherwise stated.

 

Next Steps:  Eligible applicants will be contacted by the Youth Commission staff to participate in a group interview. All applications are then forwarded to respective district supervisors for consideration and possible appointment.
