Supervisor Mandelman’s District 8 Internship Program offers students an introduction to the work of a local government office, and a deeper understanding of public policy issues impacting San Francisco. District 8 includes the Castro, Noe Valley, Glen Park, Diamond Heights, Twin Peaks, Cole Valley, and Duboce Triangle. The District has played an important role in San Francisco history as many of the neighborhoods it encompasses were represented by Supervisor Harvey Milk following his election in 1978.

This internship opportunity allows students to participate in the daily operations of the City and County of San Francisco. Throughout the internship, students work closely with Supervisor Mandelman and his legislative staff.Â
Â
Responsibilities:Â
- Manage constituent correspondence and casework management
- Research current events and policy issues that impact District 8 and its residents
- Work closely with legislative staff on a variety of projects and assignments.
- Provide administrative support and assistance in day-to-day office operations.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong work ethic and drive to take on various opportunities for personal and professional development
- Strong interest and passion for public policy and social change.

Time Commitment:
- In-person shifts at San Francisco City Hall, 1 Dr. Carlton B Goodlett Pl
- Shifts would be scheduled during our office hours:Â Monday to Friday, 9:00 am - 6:00 pm.

Compensation:
Unfortunately, we’re unable to provide paid internships but are happy to work with students who are interested in receiving undergraduate or graduate credit.Â
